Good Wine Good People – the online retailer which also has an import and wholesale arm – has acquired Plonk Wine, a UK-based e-commerce wine club.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Plonk into the GWGP family as we’ve long admired their branding and ethos,” says GWGP founder Dan Belmont (pictured).

“We’re primed to continue the mission with an expanded community – steering consumers away from mundane mass-produced wines and championing exciting independent producers via thoughtful curation, storytelling and personalisation.”

Both companies were created in 2020. GWGP offers more than 500 wines from 250+ producers and claims to offer the largest selection of New York wines in the UK. Plonk has a similar approach, focusing on small-batch wines from independent producers.

The deal takes effect from the end of September.

GWGP is in the process of an investment round which closed on October 31 and aims to raise a maximum of £500,000.
