Massaya, the Lebanese wine producer, has named Halo Wines as its new UK importer.
Massaya, founded in 1996 by brothers Sami and Ramzi Ghosn, had a longstanding relationship with Thorman Hunt in the UK market, which comes to an end on March 15. It has a distillery and wineries in the Beqaa Valley and on Mount Lebanon.
Halo Wines is an import business started in September 2023 by Tim French. Part of its original group of agencies was Niepoort, which had been part of the Raymond Reynolds stable for many years.
Halo described the addition of Massaya to its roster as “a significant milestone” in its evolution.
French said: “We are very excited to be chosen as the new importer for Massaya in the UK.
“Massaya is one of the most iconic producers in the eastern Mediterranean and the new partnership aligns perfectly with our mission to showcase the most distinctive wines from around the world. We look forward to championing these outstanding wines and arak at a momentous time for Lebanon and the wider region.”
Sami Ghosn of Massaya (pictured) said: “We thank Jeremy [Hunt] and his team at Thorman Hunt for their friendship and efforts over the years in building such a dedicated following for Massaya.
“We are thrilled to begin this new chapter with Halo Wines. The UK market is precious to us and we are delighted to be working together to continue supporting our treasured British customers.”
