Fells has taken on the UK agency rights for one of Argentina’s oldest wineries, Bodega Lagarde.

Until now the wines have been distributed by Stainton Wines.

Lagarde is considered one of the originators of Mendoza Malbec, with a focus on terroir-oriented high-altitude winemaking.

Founded in 1897, Bodega Lagarde is one of Mendoza’s oldest wineries. Acquired in 1969 by the Pescarmona family, it is now run by third-generation sisters, Sofía and Lucila. Its vineyards include Drummond and Agrelo in Lujan de Cuyo, and Gualtallary in the Uco Valley.

The wines range from the Teia Malbec to the Proyecto Hermanas collection.

Fells MD Euan Mackay says the agreement “adds further strength and depth to our South American offering”.
