North South Wines has taken on distribution for Ribera del Duero producer Coto de Caleruega, produced by Grupo Baron de Ley.

The project brings together 370 hectares of estate owned vineyards and the construction of a new winery set to open in 2028.

Caleruega is a municipality situated in the north eastern limit of the Ribera del Duero DO at altitudes of between 960-1070m above sea level, an area known for hot, dry summers and very cold winter conditions. The six vineyard sites are situated at varying altitudes with a mixture of soil types including limestone, clay and stony and sandy components.

The winemaking will be led by technical director Lluis Laso and head of viticulture Javier Vicente (pictured) and Coto de Caleruega will launch with the 2024 vintage, showcased at the recent Grapest Hits tastings.
