Spottswoode Estate, the Napa valley wine producer, has joined the Mentzendorff portfolio.
Described by Mentzendorff as one of the region’s most legendary wine estates, Spottswoode has a history dating back to 1882 when the first grapes were planted.
The modern history of the estate began a century later when the first vintage of Estate Cabernet was released.
Spottswoode is owned by the Novak family and was an early adopter of organic viticulture.
Mentzendorff managing director Justin Liddle said: “To be able to welcome such a legendary producer as Spottswoode with first-growth quality wines is a true honour.
“Their commitment to achieving the highest standards of excellence and being a true pioneer for sustainability and the health of the natural environment really does set them apart.”
Spottswoode becomes Mentzendorff’s sole Californian agency. Its new world roster includes names such as Ponzi (Oregon), Kilikanoon (Australia), Klein Constantia (South Africa) and The Crossings (New Zealand).
