Le Vignoble has been named the winner of Wines of Germany’s 31 Days of German Wine campaign, which returned for a 15th year in July. A total of 140 retailers and restaurants across the UK took part, running tastings, promotions, masterclasses and other German wine events.
The Bristol and Plymouth merchant recorded sales growth of more than 400% during the month. It added 16 new German wines, offered the range by the glass across both sites and supported the campaign with wine clubs, guided tastings and food pairings.
Maja Syska, manager at Le Vignoble Bristol, said: “We champion German wines all year round, but it’s been a real treat to be able to extend our range over July.” She added that it had been encouraging to see both regular and new customers exploring a wider range of German wines.
The Grape Escape in Cheltenham was named first runner-up after increasing German wine sales by 500%. It showcased 18 wines, added 13 new listings and ran wine flights and tastings. Fourth & Church in Hove took second runner-up spot, with 14 new listings, weekly pairings, changing by-the-glass selections and two sold-out Riesling masterclasses helping sales rise by more than 400%.
Nicky Forrest, managing director of Wines of Germany UK, said the campaign continued to provide “a brilliant showcase for the quality, diversity and versatility of German wine”. She added: “It’s encouraging to see such strong engagement year after year.”
