Flint Wines has agreed a “strategic partnership” which gives it access to 11 South African wineries represented in the UK by Dreyfus Ashby.
The deal is mainly focused on London on-trade accounts, though Flint will be able to propose the wines to regional customers not already working with Dreyfus Ashby, and where there is no conflict with a Dreyfus Ashby client.
The wineries involved are Alheit, Beaumont, Geographica, Hogan, Keermont Estate, Lukas Van Loggerenberg, Miles Mossop, Minimalist Wines, Newton Johnson, Tesselaarsdal (pictured) and Tierhoek.
Beth Pearce MW, head of buying at Flint, said: “South Africa is one of the most exciting fine wine categories today, combining heritage with innovation, and most often with brilliant value for money.
“Partnering with Dreyfus Ashby allows us to deepen our range with a carefully selected group of benchmark producers, combining years of expertise with Flint’s dynamic sales team and excellent service.”
Richard Kelley MW of Dreyfus Ashby added: “Since we do not court the on-trade directly, this strategic collaboration will benefit all parties. Our South African producers can find a place on the lists of London’s finest restaurant addresses, whilst Flint has gained access to some of the most desirable wines currently coming out of the Cape.”
Kelley added that Dreyfus Ashby had been using H2Vin as its route to the London on-trade since 2014, an arrangement that came to an end when H2Vin merged with Alliance Wine 18 months ago.
