Liberty Wines has expanded its Loire portfolio with the addition of Domaine Ogereau in Anjou and Goustine in Vouvray, both specialising in Chenin Blanc from organically managed vineyards.
Domaine Ogereau is run by Emmanuel Ogereau, who returned to the family estate in 2014 after gaining winemaking experience in New Zealand and Oregon. He has shifted production towards dry, site-specific Chenin Blanc, with the estate’s 23 hectares achieving organic certification in 2019 and biodynamic certification in 2024.
Liberty has listed four of Ogereau’s 2024 Chenin Blancs, including La Saponaire and Clos le Grand Beaupréau from Savennières, alongside Vent de Spilite and Clos des Bonnes Blanches from Anjou. Retail prices range from £34 to £46, with a 2023 Crémant de Loire Blanc de Blancs also available at £30.
Goustine was established in 2022 by Jeroen Verhaeghe and Anne De Sutter, who purchased six hectares of vines in Noizay, within the Vouvray appellation. Their vineyards, planted with vines aged between 20 and 80 years, are undergoing organic conversion. Winemaking involves indigenous yeasts, minimal sulphur and the prevention of malolactic fermentation to retain acidity.
Liberty has taken on three Goustine wines from the 2025 vintage: Le XX (£27), Caresse Calcaire (£33) and Murmure d’Argile (£33). Sophie Wilson, senior buyer at Liberty Wines, said the new additions offered distinctive expressions of Chenin Blanc, highlighting the influence of vineyard soils and site. Emmanuel Ogereau will present his wines at the Love Loire Trade & Press Tasting in London on November 10.
