Hallgarten & Novum Wines has added two Italian producers to its portfolio, taking on Soave specialist Inama and Abruzzo winery Terre di Civita.

Family-owned Inama, introduced to the UK by Winetraders, is one of Soave’s best-known producers, making Garganega from vineyards on the volcanic soils of Monte Foscarino. The estate also produces reds in Colli Berici DOC, where its plantings include Carmenère alongside other Bordeaux varieties. Inama is a member of Diversity Ark and works with organic viticulture and minimal intervention.

Will Winterton, Hallgarten’s buying director for Italy, said the company is “incredibly excited” to work with Inama. “We are excited to grow the UK market for premium Italian volcanic white wines alongside them,” he added. Matteo Inama said Hallgarten had impressed the family with its “supportive and professional” approach and described the UK as a market with “a great history for Inama”.

Hallgarten has also signed Terre di Civita, a small family winery based in Pollutri, Abruzzo, around 10km from the Adriatic coast. The producer began bottling wine under its own name in 2022 and makes fewer than 8,000 bottles a year from three hectares, with Pecorino and Montepulciano d’Abruzzo at the heart of the range.

Terre di Civita owner Francesco di Fonzo said joining Hallgarten was “a significant step forward” for the business. “It means working with people who genuinely understand and value small family wineries,” he said. The two estates join an Italian portfolio at Hallgarten that already includes Vietti, Feudi di San Gregorio, Ca’Rugate, Roccolo Grassi and Bove.
