Zwartwater, a pioneering new Swartland wine project, has agreed a deal with Hallgarten & Novum Wines for UK distribution.
The wines are made by Stefan Johannes, using fruit from the historic Lammershoek vineyard.
The 2024 vintage is Zwartwater’s first. The initial range includes a white and a red blend crafted from old vines dating back to 1966.
Robert Mathias MW, Hallgarten’s buying director for South Africa, said: “This new project from Stefan Johannes, with a strong pedigree linked to the historic Lammershoek estate, is already beginning to make its name in the South African wine scene.
“This is an exciting addition to our portfolio that signals our longstanding and ongoing commitment to the quality of wines coming out of South Africa. I am confident that Zwartwater is set to become one of the greats of Swartland.”
Johannes adds: “Zwartwater seeks to embody the highest potential of what Lammershoek’s promising fruit can yield, and in philosophy, a spirit of surrender when the pivotal moments come.
“Zwartwater is not a finished work. Not a destination, but a journey. One that now invites others to walk alongside and participate.”
